Four days after a frustrating final race in Brittany, Marie-Morgane Le Deunff and her team-mates were back in action at the Navarra Women's Elite Classic. While Karolina Perekitko tried to break away in the final without success, Nadia Gontova finished in the leading group.

You have to write it down to believe it. There was no sun in the northern Spanish region of Navarre. The French team showed itself to be at its best in the dantesque conditions. While prodigy Cat Ferguson (Movistar Team) won, Canadian Nadia Gontova of WOS finished in the same time (12th).

Nadia Gontova : "I feel really strong"

"The girls really helped me with positioning from the start and it gave me a lot of confidence. My legs felt really strong on all of the climbs and I tried to attack on the last climb but was brought back. I tried to position for the finish and sprint but sprinting is not my strong suit so I am overall happy with the day. I feel really strong and am excited for the rest of the races in this block."

Not for lack of trying, her partner Karolina Perekitko, who recently extended her contract until 2027, is 12 kilometers from the finish line.

"I was all day super good, in really good position, girls help a lot, but when the poor rain started my body just stop working and i can’t push anything… it is flustrating and i dont know how to overcome it and deal with bad poor weather", explains the polish rider.

A second day of Spanish racing awaits the Winspace Orange Seal runners at the Izulia Women.
