Winspace Orange Seal was represented this Saturday in the women’s road race at the World Championships. Karolina Perekitko, riding in the colors of Poland, finished 49th after doing valuable work for her leader.

The Kigali Worlds are in full swing. After Jenaya Francis competed in the U23 race on Thursday, it was Karolina Perekitko’s turn to line up for the rainbow jersey in the Elite Women’s event. She was one of the key riders for the Polish national team, supporting leader Kasia Niewiadoma, winner of the 2024 Tour de France Femmes. "The race was really nice. My goal was to stay attentive from the start, keep Kasia in a good position, ride well together as a team and follow some moves", she explained. "I managed to do it well and I’m very happy that I could do my job. Later on, I stayed in a group and we arrived at the finish together. It's nice that I could pass finish line after doing my job for the team, especially after last year’s DNF when I didn’t contribute during the race".

In the heart of Rwanda, Karolina experienced an atmosphere quite different from what she usually sees in Europe. “The race was really special. Honestly, I didn’t expect everything would be so ready. Everything was super safe, and the organization was super well. I saw a lot of hard work and commitment from the people here. On the climb, so many spectators were cheering for us, it was really motivating.”

The 26-year-old also took away broader lessons from her trip, particularly from discovering local life. “I also saw another side of life for people in Africa. Life is not easy for them. Many in the villages don’t have internet or cars, and they carry everything by bike. It really makes me even more grateful that I have really good life in Europe. But what struck me the most is that, even though life is difficult, people here smile a lot and are very happy.”

Next week, Karolina will return to Europe to compete in the European Championships, held in France.
