Winspace Orange Seal is represented at the UCI Road World Championships, with two riders from the French ProTeam competing in Kigali (Rwanda): Jenaya Francis and Karolina Perekitko. The first to line up was Francis, racing in the colors of Canada, who contested Thursday’s U23 Women’s Road Race. She finished in 34th place.

Riding at a World Championships is a privilege for any professional cyclist, and for Jenaya, it marked a milestone — her very first participation at the Worlds. It was also a historic edition, as the first-ever stand-alone U23 Women’s World Championship. “I’m so honored to have taken part,” said the 21-year-old Canadian, impressed by the atmosphere in Rwanda. “Standing on the start line was really special. The crowds here are the best I’ve ever seen. It's so cool to race where you can feel the passion for the sport”.

The 119-kilometer course featured 2,435 meters of elevation gain, with two climbs to tackle on each lap of the Kigali circuit — terrain perfectly suited to Isabella Holmgren, the Canadian national team’s designated leader. Jenaya’s role was to support her as deep into the race as possible. “The race was tough right from the start. I knew I was racing for one of the strongest riders in the peloton, so I tried my best to keep her in a good position so she could make the difference in the second half of the race. I raced with my heart and gave everything I had. I’m looking forward to taking this experience with me into my next races.”

Jenaya ultimately finished 34th, having successfully fulfilled her role as a teammate — she was the last rider to remain with her leader. On Saturday, Karolina Perekitko will represent Poland in the Elite Women’s Road Race.
