On home soil, Poland's Karolina Perekitko claimed her first podium of the season. A promising third place for the leader of the French team.
It's been one good news story after another for Winspace. Just a week after WOS announced its participation in the Tour de France Femmes with Zwift and Aurela Nerlo's prestigious 24th place in Belgium in A Travers la Flandre, Karolina Perekitko took third place in the Pays de la Loire Tour Féminin.
"We did everything we could to chase the first girl away. In vain", she analyses. "We gave it our all for a sprint. The girls were incredible, they helped me a lot and trusted me. This podium is the result of our hard work throughout the race." "She launched the sprint from afar’, added sports director Franck Renimel. To finish... at the third place. A real satisfaction for the whole team.
Franck Renimel: "We had to play our part"
Starting from Cugand-La-Bernardière in the Vendée, Camille Fahy, Jenaya Francis, Nadia Gontova, Fiona Mangan, Karolina Perekitko and Constance Valentin set the pace. With little or no attack throughout, the WOS residents "wanted to liven up the race as they entered the circuit", explains sports director Franck Renimel. "We had to play an active role. That's what they managed to do."
Jenaya Francis insists that this fine position is a collective effort. "We ran very hard to get Karolina Perekitko into a good position on the final climb", admits the Canadian. "I gave it my all. I'm very proud that she made it onto the podium. It's very promising for the races to come !"
Winspace will be present at Paris-Roubaix this Saturday. The Hell of the North awaits them.
