The first victory is in! Winspace Orange Seal has claimed its first win, thanks to Fiona Mangan’s impressive sprint on Stage 3 of the Tour of Portugal. The Irish rider outpaced around thirty competitors in the final dash to the line—a mission accomplished for the French ProTeam.
It’s a breakthrough moment for Winspace Orange Seal, which had been chasing its first victory in over two years. That long-awaited win finally came in Pombal, with Mangan also climbing to 8th place in the general classification. Kiara Lylyk crossed the line in 4th place, while Jenaya Francis—part of the front group—held on to the white jersey for best young rider and now sits 6th overall. The team’s consistency continues to show: WOS was the best team on the day and now ranks third in the overall team classification. The collective effort, completed by Marie-Morgane Le Deunff, Florence Normand and Camille Fahy, paid off this Friday.
Fiona Mangan, stage winner : "The team did such a good job today. We were at the front of the race, following everything. We came here to the stage race really believing that we could win. Actually, put it off is really special. I'm really proud of the team, of the girls who worked today. I think we can take confidence from today into the season".
Jean-Christophe Barbotin, Winspace Orange Seal General Manager : “We came into this race with one goal: to win. Nothing else was on our minds—I wanted the riders to believe it. I told them they could win, and I reminded them again in the morning briefing. They are among the strongest in the peloton here. They raced like leaders—controlling the front, confident in their abilities. It was an aggressive stage with lots of attacks, and many riders were dropped. Only about thirty were left at the front. In the final sprint, our riders launched early. Fiona led out Kiara, but she couldn’t come around—so Fiona stayed in front all the way to the line. We’re not done yet. We head into the weekend still hungry for more.”
